About Me and My Soap

Hi,thanks for stopping by.

I'm a school bus driving custodian. And in my spare time I crochet, knit, paint, and make handmade soap. I started crocheting when I was 4 yrs. old. A good friend of my grandmothers taught me how. My parents bought me a small sewing machine when I was about 5 yrs. old. I made a lot of doll blankets. In junior high & high school I made most of my clothes. When my kids were young a friend taught me how to paint with oils. I mostly paint sawblades. My mom took on the task of teaching me to knit when I was real young. Over the years I've knitted everything from slippers to ski sweaters. Most recently I've taught myself how to make handmade soap. I was given 2 bars to try,and I fell in love with it!

I have thought about making other bath and body products, but have decided to focus mostly on my soaps. I just love making them!!!

I wanted to add some information on my 4 main ingredients. This will help you understand why my soap has such a nice lather and is so gentle.

Coconut oil is what gives my soap a nice rich lather. Olive Oil is high in oleic acid, good for skin cell regeneration. Palm oil is a form of vegetable oil obtained from the fruit of the Oil palm tree. Palm Kernel Oil is high in lauric acid which is believed to have antimicrobial properties. It also helps water dissolve dirt and oils. And the last of my oil ingredients, Soybean Oil is ideal as a massage oil or carrier for treatment products. It allows for the infusion of lipids (oil like substances) to hydrate and protects skin cells. Soybean Oil replenishes the lipid barrier to help hold in the skins intrinsic moisture while softening dry, chaffed and damaged skin.

I also added coloring to to some of my soaps and of course excellent quality fragrance oils.

The method I use is called the hot process and is ready to use in a week. My soap is a lye soap. Lye adds the heat to make the soap process. I also put it in the oven to speed it up. There is NO lye left in the soap at the end of the soap making process.

This is a lot like the method our grandmothers and great grandmothers used to make soap and laundry soap. My mom remembers making laundry soap with her grandmother. We now have access to a lot more nice butters and oils to use as ingredients.

Please check back often. My All Time Favorites will pretty much stay the same, but I will be adding new fragrances over the holidays. If you don't see one of your favorites, please send me an e-mail and let me know.
